Born and raised in east Java, Budi’s artistic sensibility comes out of his Javanese apreciation for detail.   He uses fine silverwork to echo the ornate aesthetic of his own traditions.  At the same time, Budi’s work has been influenced by a western market favoring simplicity and practicality.  Ultimately, the dual pull of both the western and eastern influence has allowed Budi great freedom to explore form, texture, detail and shape.  The variety of his work is a testament to his willingness to test the boundaries.
